Acupuncture

Acupuncture consists of the insertion of fine needles, decisively placed on various points in the body in order to allow homeostasis within the body and mind.

Acupuncture is known to successfully treat pain.  It needs to be understood that acupuncture can address the whole spectrum of health. Some other uses are;

  • Digestive issues: (IBS, Chron's, Diverticulosis, etc.)

  • Endocrine imbalances: (Hormonal, pre/peri/post menopausal issues, Diabetes, skin disorders, autoimmune, etc.)

  • Gynecological issues (irregular menses, dysmenorrhea, amenorrhea, infertility, chronic miscarriage etc.)

  • H.E.E.N.T: (headache/migraine, sinus issues, etc.)

  • Male Reproductive Disorders: (Erectile dysfunction, prostatitis, etc.)

  • Neurological issues: (including Parkinson's, traumatic brain injuries, Dementia/Alzheimer's, stroke, etc.)

  • Prevention of and/or post-treatment of, serious illnesses/invasive treatments: (including chemo)

  • Psychological issues: (PTSD, depression, anxiety, addiction etc.)

  • Sleep Disorders: (Insomnia, dream-disturbances, hypersomnia, etc.)

  • *Be mindful that Traditional Chinese Medicine uses different medical terminology and diagnoses, and that these disorders are listed by their more commonly known allopathic terms*

Chinese Herbs

Many times a patient will respond very well to needles and other external modalities applied, that it is not necessary for internal herbs to be prescribed.  As far as external herbs, Kati is happy to prescribe liniments, pain patches etc

Internally, a personalized formula either in "raw/bulk" or powder/granular approaches can be prescribed, or herbal patents when appropriate. Internal herbal prescriptions will be discussed with each patient and is not a necessity for a treatment.

*Be aware that the Chinese Materia Medica does include animal by-products, minerals, and other substances...when we say herbs we don't mean just plant-based products, again this would be further discussed at the time of treatment.

Fire Cupping

Fire cupping is the therapeutic use of applying heated cups to the skin, creating a "reverse massage" by pulling the fascia from the muscle, as well as extracting toxins from the body.   There are various techniques and many implications for this adjunct therapy.

Tui Na (Chinese Medical Massage)
Kati has been trained in over 2 semesters of Tui Na.  This form of massage, utilizes the Chinese meridian system while incorporating Western massage techniques.  There are many protocols specific for different treatments, including pediatric.

Moxibustion
Moxa is the burning of the herb mug wort, either on or near the skin, without burning skin.  Therapeutic uses include, but aren't limited to; increasing immune function, reducing inflammation, increasing energy levels, increasing RBC and WBC count, promoting circulation and warming the channels.

Additional Adjunctive Therapies:
  • E-STIM (Electro-Stimulation)
  • Gua Sha (Fascial scraping technique)
  • Intradermal needles and Ear seeds
  • TDP Heat lamp therapy
